Fairfield, NE resident Angela Rose (Svoboda) Ridgway, 87, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, NE.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 10, 2020, at the Fairfield Community Presbyterian Church in Fairfield, NE with Pastor Joyce Dean officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Fairfield Cemetery. In honoring her wish to be cremated there will not be visitation or viewing. The family will greet friends on Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., at Fairfield Community Presbyterian Church in Fairfield, NE.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later.

Angie was born August 1, 1932, in Spring Ranch, NE to Albert and Rose (Nejezchleb) Svoboda. She grew up on a farm in Spring Ranch and graduated Fairfield High School. On November 20, 1953, Angie was united in marriage to William Carl Ridgway. The couple lived in Roswell, NM after they married, then settled in Fairfield, NE and managed the family farm.

Angie was employed as a paralegal with Sullivan Law Office in Clay Center, NE and later with Seiler & Parker Law Office in Clay Center, NE for the majority of her life. She also shared her talents at Ben Sherman’s and Russell Stover Candies as a mint decorator. She was very involved in the community serving on the Community Club, Library Board, Fairfield Presbyterian Church (Deacon), Fairfield Cemetery Board, Big Sam’s Camping Treasurer, American Legion Auxiliary, and was involved with Scouting and 4-H with her children. Art and painting was one of her well-known and loved talents that was shared for 35 years at the annual Old Trusty Show in Clay Center. She enjoyed painting personal scenes on meaningful items that brought joy to others.

Angie is survived by her husband of 66 years, William (Bill) Carl Ridgway of Fairfield, NE; children, Greg (Kathleen) Ridgway of Birmingham, AL; and Sondra (Todd) Otto of Dickinson, ND; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Madden; sisters-in-law, Mildred Ridgway and Gail Ridgway; and her nieces, nephews and their families.

Angie was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Rose (Nejezchleb) Svoboda; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leland and Rita Ridgway, Rolland Ridgway, Dale and Norma Ridgway, Berl Ridgway, Vera Ridgway, Lucille Ridgway, Jack Ridgway, and William Madden.
