Peter R. Strobl

Clay Center resident Peter "Rod" R. Strobl, 74, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020, surrounded by his wife, three sons, their wives and two of his grandkids at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, NE. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held at the Clay Center Cemetery. A public memorial service will be conducted once the COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted. Visitation will be Monday, March 30, 2020, from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m., at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center, NE. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later. Rod was born in Hastings, NE, on October 2, 1945, son of the late Peter and Florence (McIntosh) Strobl. He is survived by his spouse, Peggy Strobl of Clay Center, NE; their three sons, Jason (Heather) of Clay Center, NE; Aaron (Erin) of Wright, WY; Brad Strobl of Clay Center, NE; grandchildren, Dalton (Sara) Portwine of Kaycee, WY; Tyler Strobl of Wright, WY; Brendon Strobl of Clay Center, NE; Kylee Strobl of Clay Center, NE; Hannah Strobl of Wright, WY; and Caleb Spangler of Wright, WY; as well as his sisters, Sharlet Ham of Clay Center, NE; Marcelene (John) Gieber of Ogden, KS; brother-in-law, Dennis Nuebaurer of Alma, NE; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends. Rod was married to Peggy Farris on October 30, 1971, and they were married for 48 years. Rod was a life-time resident of Nebraska and lived in between Red Cloud, Fairfield, Clay Center, and Orleans. Rod was a hard-working man; he was a farmer in Orleans for several years, after that he went to NC Hybrids and spent 30 years there until his retirement. Rod truly lived life to the fullest and enjoyed the simple things in life; gardening, camping, fishing, spending time with his friends and most importantly spending time with his grandkids. Rod was so proud of his grandkids and they were his pride and joy! Through Rod's life, he touched everyone's heart that he encountered and will be remembered for his ornery laugh and joyous smile. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Florence Strobl; sister, Linda Nuebauer; infant brother, Roger Strobl and brother-in-law, Bud Ham.
