Leah L. Harms Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Former Clay Center, NE resident Leah L. Harms, 98, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora, NE. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2022, at the United Church of Christ in Clay Center, NE with Pastor Ethan Feistner officiating. Interment will follow at the Clay Center Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later. Leah was born August 11, 1923, in Campbell, NE to Emil and Augusta (Kumke) Volk. She received her education in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School in 1941. She married Edward R. Harms on October 30, 1948, and to this union 4 children were born. Leah was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clay Center, the American Cancer Society, the Legion Auxiliary and the Happy Homemakers Club. She enjoyed golfing, gardening and sold Fuller Brush. She is survived by her children, Edward L. (Nancy) Harms of Topeka, KS; Kathleen A. Sorahan of Aurora, NE; Craig A. Harms of Illinois; and Kevin R. Harms of Vermont; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Freeburger of Hastings, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward R. Harms; son-in-law, Tim Sorahan; brother, Lester Volk; and sister, Lucille Bermood.
