Sutton resident Norma Ruth Ochsner, 88, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard, NE. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Sutton, NE with Rev. Joe Vusich officiating. Interment will follow at the Sutton Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 25, 2014, from 1 - 8 p.m., with the family present from 5 - 7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, NE. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Norma R. (Becker) Ochsner was born November 8, 1925 to Reinhold and Alma (Kirchhefer) Becker of Saronville, Nebraska. She attended a small country school in rural Stockham. On January 26, 1945, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Leo S. Ochsner at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Sutton, Nebraska. Norma joined her husband as a farm wife and homemaker on the Ochsner family farm located North of Sutton in Hamilton County, where they raised Cattle, Sheep, and planted crops. Norma loved watching the birds and various wildlife, especially the beautiful whitetail deer that moved around the area. On December 16, 1950, Norma and Leo were blessed with a son, Raymond where they worked and lived as good Christians until Leo's sudden death in 1989. Norma left her home and moved into Sutton to the Nolte Center where her busy farm life became a life of making many friends playing cards and good conversation. In 2008, she moved to the Harvard Rest Haven after falling and injuring her wrist. Norma made many new friends at the home playing Bingo, WII Bowling and other activities. She touched many lives with her loving caring ways and will truly be missed by all. She was a life time Member of the Emanuel Reformed Church in Sutton, Nebraska where her many good deeds did not go unnoticed. She is survived by her son Raymond and wife Tylyn Ochsner of Sutton, Nebraska, her sister Arlene (Becker) Darden of Escondido, California. 3 Grandchildren, Thomas and wife Chasity Gassman of York, Nebraska, Angela Gardner of Omaha, Nebraska and Matthew and wife Autumn Ochsner of Germany. 15 Great Grandchildren and 4 Nephews David and Barry Darden of California, Ronald Becker of Aurora, Nebraska, Randy Becker of Phillips, Nebraska, 1 Niece Janelle (Becker) Holmes and husband Randy of Grand Island, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leo, parents Reinhold and Alma Becker and Brother Robert Becker.
