    March 23, 1922 - March 9, 2012

    Sutton resident Sarah P. Easterly, 89, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare in Hastings, NE. Services are 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, NE with Rev. Eric Biehl officiating. Interment will follow at the Sutton Cemetery in Sutton, NE. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, NE. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hillcrest View Assisted Living in Sutton or the Sutton E.M.T.'s. Sarah Pauline (Reifschneider) Easterly was born to John and Pauline (Jergensohn) Reifschneider March 23, 1922, in Sutton, NE. She grew up in Sutton with her family and moved to Colorado in 1936. After the death of her mother in 1937, she moved with her father and sister, Ella, to Friend, NE, and then to Sutton in 1939. She was confirmed in the Reformed Church in 1936. She graduated from Sutton High School in 1941, after which she taught in rural school in Clay and Fillmore Counties. She then worked at the Harvard Air Base where she was employed as a secretary to the aircraft inspector. She married William Frank Easterly of Carbondale, IL, on May 26, 1944, in the German Congregational Church. They made their home in Great Bend, KS, and Douglas, WY, before moving back to Sutton in 1947. They were blessed with two children, Rosemary Lynn and Steven Craig. Her husband passed away May 11, 1991, and her son passed away February 9, 2004. She was a member of the Federated Church in Sutton, NE., for more than 50 years and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 50 years. She was a past member of the Federated Church Women's Fellowship, the Adams County Salon of 8/40, Fairview Club and the rural letter carrier's Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter Rosemary Friesen and her husband Arlyn of Loup City, NE; grandchildren, Lisa Marquart and husband Jeff; Krysten Teeter and husband John; Scott Friesen and wife Stephanie; great-grandchildren, William, Elizabeth and Joshua Roe; Jonathan and Mackenzie Teeter; Aleia and Kolton Friesen. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Vera Reifschneider; husband, William; son, Steven; sister, Ella Griess and brother-in-law, Lorence Griess.
